To celebrate the last day of August, Noah and I headed over to the town commons to have a picnic.

Another Cereal Fail
Noah has gotten really good at feeding himself puffs lately. He loves them!
In contrast, Noah still hates cereal. I've tried fruity rice cereal and banana oatmeal, but I can only manage to shovel one spoonful in before he shuts up tight. He has perfected the 'crying with my mouth closed' technique. It's actually pretty funny.
In lieu of posting videos here (since it takes up so much of my storage space), I'm going to start posting them through YouTube. Click the link to view.

I see what you've got there mommy
Not gonna happen
Nope!
Nice try
Now where are those puffs?

Hangering Around
Noah's blood test from his appointment revealed that he is borderline anemic, so we are now on an iron supplement until his first birthday when they will reassess. This diagnosis didn't stop him from enjoying some time with this plastic hanger.

Helper
We've been really busy the last few days and I haven't had time to post much. Here are Noah's 9 month stats. Weight: 17 pounds, 4 ounces (about 10th percentile); Height: 28.3 inches (about 56th percentile); and he continues to have a large head with a measurement close to the 80th percentile.
Noah and I stopped by my office a week ago and he helped my coworkers sort through some papers.

9 Months
Noah is now 9 months old. Only three more months until he is one!!! I have been bad with giving monthly milestone updates so a detailed account follows:
-Waving to everyone except mom and dad - I guess he sees us enough that he doesn't feel the need to greet us
-Clapping with close fists
-Actually plays peek-a-boo as opposed to just enjoying it. He yields the blanket and moves it up and down in front of his face
-Doing lots of babbling, but no words yet. Also just started really getting into blowing raspberries with his lips
-Smiles and is very social, but is very selective with his laughing. Random things will set him off, but we can never get him to repeat
-Still only eats baby food once a day at lunch, but is now enjoying Gerber puffs and a little table food at dinnertime. Nurses 2x a day and gets 3-4 bottles of formula per day
-Sleeps about 10 hours a day, but sometimes only 9. He usually has a morning nap around 9:30, but afternoon naps are pretty inconsistent. He has always hated napping.
-Is army crawling and rolling around like crazy, but still hasn't got the full crawl yet. It is possible he is a little behind due to his broken leg although a lot of babies just skip the crawling stage so we aren't worried
-Sits like a pro and can go from lying to sitting up by himself
-Loves to stand and can stand fairly well while holding onto something. Just started trying to pull himself up, but has a ways to go with that
-Really hates to sit still. Is always bouncing and squirming and I think he wishes he could just take off running somewhere. He has always been on the small size for weight and it is probably due to all of the calories he burns off
-Likes to jumpity jump jump in his jumparoo - again with the calorie burning
-Loves all of his toys and the baby pool. Will play by himself for about 20 minutes before getting lonely. He likes to open drawers and just discovered he can pull up the grate from the floor (how do you baby proof that??)
-Still has not gotten any baby teeth, but puts anything and everything into his mouth
-Likes to watch videos of himself
-Loves when you sing to him
-Uses a pacifier to sleep and calm himself. Does not suck his thumbs.
-Has tons of hair still. It gets pretty tangly in the back. As of today has gotten one full haircut and three at-home trims.
-Wearing size 3 diapers and 6-9 month clothes and probably won't move up to 9-12 for at least another month
-Is more of a mommy's boy, but loves his Thursdays with daddy

Beach
While we were up in Michigan, we also brought Noah to the beach for the first time. For as much as Noah loved splashing around in the pool, he absolutely did not like Lake Michigan. Which is understandable considering the lake is freezing and has violent (to a very small human) waves careening into you constantly. We'll probably forgo a subsequent trip to the beach this year and just plan on going next year when he will enjoy it more.
This was happy Noah sitting under his canopy prior to entering the water.
Getting ready to go in...
And in we go...

Swimmer
We went to Michigan this weekend for a wedding and Noah got a chance to try out a big pool for the first time. He absolutely loved it.
Some pre-pool shots. We had literally just gotten up, so don't mind all of our bed heads.
I'm glad that we purchased this floatie because it allowed him the chance to kick around freely.
