Five + Half

In May, Noah turned 5 1/2 months old. He says lots of funny and random things, as most children do. If we try to tell him something that he doesn't really want to hear he'll reply, "I know that" or sometimes "who cares". If we tell him he can't do or have something that he wants, his quick reply will be "I know, I was just joking." Once when he said something that made no sense his reply was, "It's funny to me, but not to you guys."

While at the zoo a couple weeks ago we spotted some seagulls eyeing our lunch. Now, Wyatt had a run in with a seagull about a year ago in the Target parking lot when it swooped down and stole his half eaten fruit bar right out of the cart and he has never forgotten it. Every time he sees one he'll shout, "The seagull stole my fruit bar!" So Wyatt is obviously freaking out by the gang of seagulls hovering over us and I say to him, "Don't worry, I won't let them take your food." And then Noah stands up and shouts, "Not on my watch!" Which was funny and nice because he's not usually the one to come to his brother's rescue.

He's very serious about his art projects and has dozens of them hanging around the house for us to enjoy.

He's completely mastered the television and can enjoy any show he wants at any time of day thanks to Netflix and it's abundance of children's programming. Here he is watching his current favorite show, Yo Kai Watch.

While I worked at home for a few months, I was able to enroll him in a traditional summer camp through the Park District. He really enjoyed doing his Camp Sunshine, making crafts, having water days, and going on field trips to places like the zoo, mini-golf, children's museum, and a local farm.

The Many Faces of an Almost 4 Year Old

Noah: "Wyatt, do you have my Thomas [train]?"
Wyatt: No reply
Noah: "Wyatt, do you have Thomas??"
Wyatt: No reply
Noah: "Wyatt, Yes or No?!?"

Me: "Why did you push your brother down?"
Noah: "Because... yeah"

Waiting at a stop light:
Noah: "Go mom"
Me: "The light is red. We can't go yet."
Noah: "No.. it's green"
Me: "No, it's red."
Noah: "No, it's green!"
Me: "Okay, now it's green."
Noah: "Haha. Told ya!"

Three and Three Quarters

I'm way late posting this, but here is Noah rounding third base on his way to four years old. I took this one on "mommy's bench" in the front of our house. It's his favorite spot to sit while waiting to be loaded into the car. He looks like such a little kid. And I didn't need to do any coaxing with this picture because he loves to sit on this bench.

Random things Noah has been saying lately:

When I say something he doesn't want to believe he'll respond: "You're just jokin, mom." He wishes.

He's been really into asking about our future plans. I'll tell him tomorrow he's going to school and he'll say "What are we doing AFTER school?" Going home. "What are we doing AFTER going home?" Eating dinner. "What are we doing AFTER eating dinner?" And this continues until we are talking about two weeks from next Thursday or I start telling him we're going to fly to the moon to have pancakes.

If he turns the TV on himself and it's not one of his three channels, he'll say it's "Daddy's show".

He's pretty obsessed the word "toot."

Every single time we pull into the driveway or he looks out the front window he'll ask where "Jamesli" is. That's James and Eli in Noah-speak. He must think I am all-knowing or their mom emails me their daily itinerary in five minute increments.

He's in a really friendly stage lately and he'll say hi to pretty much everyone. Lately he has been asking what everyone's name is and when they in return ask for his he answers "Noahchrissie" really fast so not a single person can understand. I'm working on getting him to just say Noah. Ultimately this is probably a good thing because with such a common name he is going to have to go by Noah Christie his whole life.

We've changed over from calling our brother "Mr. Wyatt" to "Little Wyatt". Again when people ask his brother's name "Lilwyatt" is a bit hard to understand.

Sometimes he does this cute little clicking sound in his mouth when he is making a choice, like which story out of Mouse Tales he wants me to read next. Sometimes his favorite stuffed animal of the day will do the pointing.

Still wants me to do everything for him (and not Daddy). Like cutting his food, pouring his drink, helping him in the bathroom, brushing his teeth. "Mommy do it!" He used to shout out "I pick..... you Mommy!" randomly throughout the day, but he hasn't done this for a while now.

Things Noah Says

Today starts a new series in my blog posts where I write all the funny things that Noah says (and later Wyatt) now that he is starting to be a little more conversational.

I am always referring to Wyatt as "Mr. Wyatt" so Noah does too. Now he has started calling us "Mr. Dad" and "Mr. Mom".

We are still struggling with potty training. Today I asked Noah what that stinky smell was and if it was him and he said "No! Wyatt did it." Thus begins the blame the brother game.

Every night after we read books Noah knows he can secure an extra minute by asking for a drink of water. He blurts out "Need Water!" and runs to the staircase to wait for dad. And he always takes the smallest sip possible. Suuuure you needed water.

Noah has just started into the "why" phase. Lately he asks where one of us is and the answer is usually "work". Then he asks why we are at work and the answer we give is to make money. Why do we need money? To buy food. And after thinking for a few seconds he replies "But we have food!"

And for your daily dose of baby:
