Noah Turns 8

November 1st finally rolled around - the one year anniversary of Noah's tooth getting knocked out of his mouth. As you can see, the tooth did finally pop through. We didn't make it an entire year - it popped about a week before the one year mark. That was pretty close though!

We celebrated Noah's 8th birthday a little early this year due to several family members going out of town. He didn't have a theme for this party, so I just bought him a rainbow cupcake cake.

Noah really liked all of his gifts, which included a real Megaladon tooth, the movie Sherlock Gnomes, a board game, pump shooters, a Rocket kit, a Magic set, Pokemon cards, Legos, and a Pac Man light.

  

Last day as a seven year old

His friend party was on his real birthday. He invited the boys from his class, the boys from his Cub Scout den, his cousins, and a few other close friends to a glow-in-the-dark mini golf party. The venue had a space theme, which made for interesting decor. We left Wyatt at a friend's house, but brought Charlotte since we wouldn't have to pay for her.

The boys mainly just ran around and golfed by themselves for the first half of the party.

  

Then we had pizza and cake. I didn't plan ahead, so I just picked up some hockey themed cake and cupcakes. I didn't get a good picture of the cake before they ate it. This is probably the first time I've forgotten.

Then Noah did the Ticket Twister for the first time. He was so excited to be the birthday boy and to finally have a chance to do this. It was challenging, but he didn't give up and he collected a good amount of tickets.

All of the boys were given game tokens and a small amount of starting tickets that they could trade for prizes.

We still had a bit of time left, so we opened the presents. I always like to see the birthday boy open the presents, so I try to do this at my own parties when time allows. 

Instead of giving out bags of junk for party favors, I gave out homemade cookies. They all earned some nice junk toys from the venue, so I figured that counted since technically I paid for it. I made a number eight (for obvious reasons) and then couldn't figure out what other shape to make (since two 8's was more like an 88th birthday), so I finally went with a cookie boy.

Seven

Noah turned SEVEN in November. I was fairly okay with him turning six, but seven is way closer to ten that I can believe. Here is his last night as a six year old. He lost one of his front teeth nine days before his birthday. Two balls ricocheted off each other in the gym at his after school program and one of them hit him in the face. It wasn't ready to fall out, so it's going to be a while before it grows back.

Since his party was the weekend after his birthday this year, we let him open a couple gifts on his actual birthday. He received two Pokemon mini lego kits and a super deluxe Pokemon book.

We also took him to Build-A-Bear as he had his heart set on making a Pokemon character ever since Wyatt "adopted" Charmander while were on vacation. Noah decided to make Meowth.

Charlotte loved Build-A-Bear and kept giving random animals a bath. She is going to be so excited when it's her turn to make one.

We held Noah's kid party at a local pizza parlour. The kids got a tour of the kitchen and then made their own pizzas.

 

One of the boy's sisters came, Charlotte's little friend, Mackenzie, from her former daycare. They are still too shy to play together, but maybe next year.

While the pizza was cooking we played pizza Bingo.

Instead of a cake, I asked the store to make a pizza-shaped cupcake cake. It came out great!

And then we did presents. It was a little wild with a room full of six and seven year old boys (and a few girls), but it was a fun and successful party.

Afterwards, we had family over for the family party. Noah chose a minion summer-themed cake for this party (wishful thinking I guess).

He received many, many presents including Pokemon cards, an outdoor basketball hoop, and his favorite: a hatchimal.

 He spent the remainder of the party getting it to hatch
