School Begins

On August 21st, Noah had his first day of third grade. It's his third and final year at Haines School.

His backpack this year is black and has Batman written on it. He's also now the sole student at the bus stop on this side of the neighborhood.

Noah's teacher also had him do a first day of school picture, although I can tell it wasn't actually taken on the first day because I know what he was wearing that day.

With Noah at school and Charlotte at daycare, Wyatt and I had a special day together. First we stopped at the scout store to pick up some items including this cozy sweatshirt.

Then we stopped by his new school for Kindergarten Orientation. His teacher is the same one that Noah had in 2nd grade. She switched over the summer to a different grade. We loved Mrs. Chimino so I had to request her for Wyatt. Wyatt will be in the blue neighborhood for Trailblazers (Kinder extension) and in the green neighborhood for regular class.

Wyatt was very happy that his bestie would also be going to Kinder with him. They both previously completed Kinder at Triple R. Wyatt could have gone on to 1st grade, but I chose to hold him back to give him an extra year of childhood and so he would not always feel like he was trying to catch up to his older classmates. He is also a little short for his age, so he fits in well with the other Kinders.

For his special lunch that day, he chose IHOP.

The following day he had his first day at Spencer Trail. Since he was doing Trailblazers in the morning (extended Kindergarten) he was not able to ride the bus to school, but he did get to ride it home.

Hop Hop

Hopping right into Easter activities. Wyatt's Kindergarten had a party and I showed up with a craft for my table again. I made it much easier than my messy Valentine stamping and just did stick on egg emoji faces. Wyatt and his buddy enjoyed showing me their emoji faces too.

No matter how hard I try to stop it, allergy season always catches up to Noah.

I had to teach them this trick.

We did the egg hunt at the landscape company again this year. I like this one best because it's not a race to see how many eggs you get, which for my non-aggressive kids usually means little to none. Here, everyone gets the same number.

And we can also check off an Easter Bunny visit at the same time.

Later that day was Easter at my dad's. By this point it had turned into a beautiful day so Uncle Kurt and Emily entertained the kids outside with bubbles and games.

Perfect timing this year to see the front tree in bloom.

Welcome to Easter morning. The Easter Bunny brought Wyatt a Bumblebee pedal go-kart, a hatching raptor egg, and a Frog and Toad book. Noah received an Osmo game, wolf-em stick for camp fires, his very own Echo device, and a draw it yourself book. Charlotte got a bean bag chair, little pink bear, camp out clothes and sleeping bag for her doll, flashlight, an LOL doll, and silverware.

Wyatt convinced dad to assemble his go kart on the spot.

Since we didn't have any plans on Easter, we took our bikes out for a spin.

Dinner was, of course, Giordano's. Auntie KK joined us this year.

Hearts and Love Day

I started putting together the kids' Valentines in January. We had to hand them out to four different classrooms. This was the first year Charlotte participated and two of the batches were for her classes. For her daycare friends, we did mermaid-cat Valentines with a cute heart ruler attached.

For Little Sprouts, we gave bubblegum chewing llama Valentines with heart-shaped slime.

For Wyatt's class, he loved the idea to give out pencils that were stuck through a man's nostril. I found the Valentine template on Etsy and we just used pencils that we already had around the house. (Because we have a ton of pencils.)

And for Noah, I ordered space-themed puzzle erasers (the current rage) and found a matching Valentine on Etsy.

For the big day, Noah received a balloon goon floatie, and a Minecraft beach towel, Charlotte received a Barbie baking set, and Wyatt received a dragon Lego set and a Lego Jurassic World DVD. And they all received caramel chocolate hearts.

Wyatt's school had a Valentine's party, so I chaperoned. My table was a Valentine card station. The stamps got a little messy, so that probably wasn't the best idea.
