Noah had his half birthday on the 10th. He is now 2 1/2 years old. His word pronunciation suddenly clicked into place in the last month and his chattering has become much clearer. He's quite the little character and mimic (sometimes I think I still own a parrot). He has been throwing a few more tantrums lately and doing some frustrated hitting, but for the most part his behavior is pretty good and I really don't think he's anywhere close to being a 'terrible two'. His teachers still give him glowing reviews at school; he is one of the sweetest kids in his class.
He still refers to himself as baby a lot, but he has finally started saying his real name. He uses phrases like "baby too" and "baby try" when he wants to partake in something we are doing.
He's still really good at using the word please - complete with head tilt and the sweetest face that I just cannot resist (and I know he knows it). Recently he has started saying 'thank you' and also knows the appropriate time to use it. Usually I will prompt him, but lately he has been saying "thank you mum" all on his own if I give him something. He will usually apologize if he does something wrong.
Loves to be carried still and for us to help with most everything, but lately he has been trying to do more on his own. The other day he asked to be carried down the stairs and I told him he could do it by himself, but then said I would meet him halfway if he wanted. He changed his mind and said "no, self" and then came down on his own.
He currently weighs about 26 pounds (9th percentile) and is just a smidge under 36" tall (42nd percentile). He hasn't gained anything since his 2 year appointment, but the doctor didn't seem concerned at all. He is still the pickiest eater ever and frustrating to no end at meal times. We just keep hoping it will get better at some point. He has been eating more at daycare, things that he refuses to eat at home, so possibly being around his peers and watching them eat is helping.
He is wearing 2T shirts, 24 month pants, and is currently in 12-18 month shorts. A couple of his 24 month shorts do fit depending on the style. He can also still fit into his 24 month shirts, but his huge head makes it difficult and the necks just don't stretch that much. His sneakers are a size 7 1/2 and we have summer shoes in size 8 that he can also wear with plenty of room to grow.
He's still in a size 4 diaper, but we are thinking of testing a size 5 to see how those fit. He's been in size 4 for more than a year and according to weight they should fit for like another 10 pounds (which might be when he's like 5 at this point), but the next size up might be more comfortable. I'm planning on trying some actual potty training this summer when I'm home, but I won't really push him about it until he's past age 3. I still think changing diapers is easier than having to worry about running to a potty at any given moment. Although he really hates those changing tables in public bathrooms and has started pleading "save me mum" when I put him on there.
