I guess I should post about our plot in our community garden before we are officially a failure - although since we've been on vacation for a week we might already be. We decided to attempt a little vegetable and fruit growing in our school district's free community garden. It's still a bit away from the house so unfortunately we don't have the opportunity to water as much as we'd like. Hopefully at least one thing will grow.
On planting day a couple weekends ago, we had a picnic lunch and Noah explored the little children's area before we got to work.
After dad roto-tilled the dirt, he got to work planting an assortment of things like pumpkins, strawberries, potatoes, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, peppers, and sunflowers. Noah alternated lounging and helping out. We dug a trench around the perimeter to help keep the flood water away. It must be a good trench because every single time Noah tried to walk across it, he tripped. We tried not to laugh.
We also put up a fence to try and keep the deer from snacking on our goodies.
Noah helped out hydrating the plantings with his new ladybug watering can.
Gardening is very exhausting.
Update: We did grow a few things, but mostly weeds.
