There's an App For That

I believe I've mentioned before how much I love the new phone app that the kids' daycare implemented back in November. I get updates all day long so I know exactly what they are doing. It makes me feel a little more involved in their day. Here are some late winter/spring pictures of the kids learning at school.

We attended a party at Chuck E. Cheese back in March. The last time we were there Wyatt was Charlotte's age (almost exactly the same age actually) and couldn't participate. This time he made great use of his tokens - running around and choosing game after game. Noah spent the entire party in his socks because we realized halfway there that he didn't put on any shoes (blaming the parent who strapped the kids in the car for this one) (not me by the way). Luckily, you don't really need shoes to enjoy a day at Chuck E. Cheese.

Charlotte did enjoy all the pretty lights and sounds. Chuck E. Cheese has great ambiance for babies.

Surprisingly, Wyatt didn't freak out when Chuck finally came out to greet them. And as much as I dislike this place, the kids really love it (and the pizza has improved over the years).

Happy Books Happy Cooks

Noah took a cooking class at the park district last summer and just loved it. He didn't always eat what he made, but he loved the process of cooking. I tried to sign him up for the same class two other times, but the class was always cancelled for low participation. So instead, I found this cute (and free) cooking class at the library called Happy Books, Happy Cooks. It's really more of a culinary creativity class (because it's the library and it's free), but he really enjoyed it. The first half of class you assemble a little project. A few things Noah made were: a bear out of peanut butter bread, a rainbow in the clouds, a bunny made out of a Twinkie, and a turtle made out of grapes.

One day Noah didn't feel like going to class, so I brought Wyatt instead. The age range started at three, but he was close enough and he while he didn't sit quite as still as the others, he did really well. Here he is making a spider out of a donut and pretzels. After the project he kept saying "I want to go to cooking class", which was hilarious because he knew that whatever it was we just did was not actually cooking.

After the "cooking" was over, the kids listened to a couple of stories related to the theme and then they did an activity such as the parachute or hot potato. One week they decorated shamrocks for a St. Patrick's Day poster.

The last week of class Noah finally won hot potato. I don't think he's ever played this game before, but it's now one of his favorites.

After class we hung out in the kid's section for a little while and then picked out two books to bring home. We have such a nice library in town and they have really awesome programs for kids, so expect to see more library posts in the future.
