When October is Warm

With great weather on Columbus day, I decided to take the kids up to Fullersburg Woods to play and have a hike. They especially liked the big bird's nest in the nature center.

Another weekend toward the end of October we took the kids on a hike near the house. It was warm enough for tank tops and shorts.

We also made a few visits to the new Firefighter Park in town

More Halloweening

One day I took the boys to a local Halloween Kid's Fest while Nick was at a board meeting. The boys had a lot of fun playing various games and earning silly prizes. They also each painted a pumpkin and I helped out Charlotte with her pumpkin.

The highlight of the event, though, was the donut eating contest. Wyatt happily signed up and had a good time trying to nibble his donut.

The bounce house that the boys went through no less than 45 times. 

Another day we took the kids to the Halloween Hallow, which was more of a carnival.

And one night we went on a spooky Halloween Woods walk. At various stops we would sit to watch a little play. It was fun and we only got spooked once in the woods when strange creepy things came out to greet us.
