Butterfly Fest

This was the first year we had heard of the Butterfly Festival at Lake Katherine and we headed over there in September for another hot outing. The best part was the visiting animal exhibit. We got to see a huge tortoise, monkeys, a baby crocodile, some venomous snakes (eww), a bunny, and a chicken. After a long hour wait in line, we entered the butterfly tent. Noah got very good at holding his hand out for a butterfly to crawl onto. Wyatt enjoyed playing with a bowl of water and a stick.

Harvest

Later on in the month we went to one of our favorite free events - Homer Harvest Days. Noah just loves watching the sheep shearing. This was the same guy from the Farm and Barn Fest and Noah sat and watched the whole demonstration again.

Wyatt's first [root]beer.

A little horseshoe action

Noah made a couple of candles

And Wyatt had his first pony ride. He only started crying when I walked away too far.

We love fall festivals and hayrides.

Septemberfest

We had our annual trip up to Schaumburg for their Labor Day fest at the beginning of September. Even though he was a little short to ride alone, they allowed Wyatt to ride some of the kiddie rides and he really loved them. Noah took off with Nick and from what I'm told he rode the little roller coaster over and over again.

Monday morning was the Labor Day parade. We had a ton of kids in our group and they had a great time collecting candy. We had to call it quits halfway through however due to the extreme heat and the extreme slowness of the parade. Once my old HS band came through we escaped to the cool AC of our van.
