March-ing in the Woods

It was still nice the next day (first weekend in March) so we went for a Sunday Hike. We chose a preserve that we had never been to before.

Taking the Plunge

Nick signed up to do the Polar Plunge with the police department of the village he works for. We thought he was pretty crazy, but we were happy to go watch and support him. Lucky for Nick, it was only mildly cool that day.

We hung out for a while beforehand, eating and playing some bags.

Then we found a spot on the beach to wait for his team's turn.

Wyatt, being Wyatt, instantly made friends with a random little girl. At one point a man standing near me asked his grandson where this little girl was. His grandson answered, "She's over there playing with her friend." Yup.

Finally, it was Nick's team to enter the water. Here they go.

He stumbled a bit and fell on his butt. Poor daddy (far left in the next two pictures).

He was pretty cold when he got out and didn't want to stop for a picture.

It was an exhausting day.

For dinner, we met Grandma for a birthday celebration. Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Astro Overnight

The following day, I took Noah on a Cub Scout overnight at the Planetarium. We were both really excited as our last overnight at the zoo was really fun. We arrived at 5 pm, ready to spend the evening learning about space.

It was mostly just a free-explore and not as organized as the zoo overnight, so we spent a little while just wandering and checking out the exhibits.

We ate dinner as the sun set over the city.

Afterwards, we stopped at the lab and made a hovercraft.

And then we finally bumped into some friends, so we tagged along with them the rest of the night. We went to a couple shows, played in the kid's area, did a scavenger hunt, and journeyed outside to the telescope.

The moon was so cool that night. It was a great night to be in the city.

At 9:05, Noah asked if we could go to bed. Sadly, they wouldn't even let us get our gear until 10 and lights out wasn't until 11:15. Our designated space was downstairs in the telescope room. I found us a cozy nook between some exhibits. Our friends joined us and later we were joined by another friend and his dad - who just so happens to be Noah's art teacher at school. The kids all think it's pretty fun to be hanging out with him.

Even though he was exhausted, I dragged him to one more show at 10:45. The lights in the auditorium made Noah's yellow Pikachu pajamas and his yellow Pikachu turn orange.

The next morning we had breakfast, bought a few more souvenirs, and played with our friends until they kicked us out. We had a great time and can't wait until our next overnight.
