Rolling Through October

Continuing our fall fun, we went to a fest at Cantigny one Saturday. It was a little muddy, so the bounce houses weren't that much fun (for strategic reasons), but we made silly face pumpkins, climbed tanks, played at the park, and went on a hay ride. And for some reason, wore superhero masks on the way there.

One night I helped Noah with his math homework (that's usually dad's job).

We bought a "new" couch. We didn't want to spend a lot of money on a couch that they might destroy (since they are still pretty young), but we desperately needed a new couch, so we bought a floor model with some minor flaws for a deep discount.

One day a snowstorm blew in out of nowhere while we were outside playing.

We finally painted the front door.

We had a family night at the movie theatre where we saw Small Foot

We met some friends at Dollinger's for their last Civil War battle ever (sniff).

And we dressed up for the costume contest at October Pack Night. Noah's den also put on a Halloween skit.

 

Soccer

The boys soccer seasons ended in October. Wyatt did great this year and was a much better teammate, helping his team with assists and blocks. He was also randomly put on a team with our friends Avery and Ben so that made the season extra fun. Once again, there are no professional photos for fall soccer through our park district, so I took a few after his last game.

Wyatt also did Soccer Shots, a skills class, through his school. He really enjoyed that as well and I'm sure it helped his game playing on Sundays.

Noah didn't have as easy a time with his season. We knew it was going to be a challenge because being aggressive was out of his comfort zone, but we wanted him to learn what it takes to be on a team and feel the satisfaction of growing better at something when you work at it. He had a few rough moments, but overall he did improve and dare I say he actually somewhat enjoyed it.

Charlotte's First Field Trip

Now that Charlotte is in one of the "downstairs" classrooms, she is eligible for the school field trips. We missed the fall pumpkin farm field trip last year because it occurred on a day that Wyatt didn't attend, but this year they both got to go. I also took the day off to chaperone. It rained as we were getting on the bus, but stopped when we reached the pumpkin farm and the temperature was perfect for a run around the farm.

We were supposed to return the feed cups so they could reuse them, but Wyatt accidentally fed his cup to the goat...

We had to leave early since a big storm was on it's way, but it was fun to escape from school and work for a day and then we had the whole afternoon to relax.
