18 Months

Baby Noah (yes, I am still going to call him that until we stop counting his age in months) is now halfway to his second birthday. I have a feeling he will be 'running' the entire way there.

We had our 18 month check up today. Noah is 22 pounds and 32.5 inches tall. We are solidly back on the weight curve at 10th percentile. Must be all the grilled cheese and pizza. Noah had two shots and didn't cry at all. Brave boy :)

Here is a little of what Noah is up to these days:

-Babbling like crazy, but hasn't added too many actual words to his vocabulary yet. It feels like he is right on the edge of a breakthrough and one day he will wake up and we will be able to understand him. A couple words we do understand like "outside" and "play" and also a few animal sounds.

-Loves to babble into the phone. I had a 5 minute conversation with him the other day on the phone and although I didn't understand a word he said, he understood me and how a conversation works. In fact his comprehension level is absolutely amazing.

-Likes to hide things in purses, bags, garbage cans, laundry baskets, etc., and so we are constantly finding random items all over the house.

-Enjoys coloring, making art with poured milk on his highchair, and recently learned to draw with chalk outside

-Can assemble his large knob house puzzle in less than a minute and is getting better and better at his chunky (no handle) puzzles

-Has learned to blow kisses, say "shhhh" with his finger, and be an "indian"

-Loves to follow other little kids around and try to do what they do

-Enjoys household chores such as vacuuming, sweeping, wiping tables, and sorting laundry as well as personal grooming activities like brushing his hair and teeth (hope all of this keeps up!)

-His favorite place to be is the park where he enjoys climbing up the steps, running across the bridge, and sliding down on his tummy feet first

-Still a majorly picker eater, in fact he refuses to eat things he used to a eat a few months ago so there is not a lot of variety in his meals. Primarily enjoys fruit, cheese, and bread items.

-Becoming more daring by doing things like standing on his changing table and smirking at us when he goes to do something that he knows he shouldn't be (such as walk into the street or push the button on the jacuzzi tub)

-Has mostly gotten over his fear of walking in the grass and on dirt/gravel, but if he falls down will still sit and wait for us to help him up so he won't have to put his hands down.

-Throws mini-tantrums and has begun hitting when he gets upset, but he is still pretty easy to calm down and the large majority of the time he is a real sweetheart who loves to hug and give lots of kisses.

-Loves loves loves loves puppies

-Favorite TV shows are Curious George, Super Why, Dinosaur Train, and Sesame Street

-Takes a 2-3 hour nap (depending how long we let him sleep) in the afternoon right after lunch. Sleeps from 8:00 to about 6:30/7:00 the next morning.

-Still wearing size 3 diapers. This month marks an entire year that we have been in the same size diaper!

-Wearing 12-18 month shirts and some 18-24 month shirts that run on the small side. Wears 12-18 month pants, but we still have to roll them to keep them from falling. Still wearing 9-12 month shorts since length doesn't matter and occasionally still 9-12 month pants when we are running low.

-Talks and babbles to himself in his crib when he wakes up. So much nicer to wake to that than crying! Still has "nightmares" at least once a night about an hour or two after he falls asleep. He is usually easily comforted and is not awake when this happens.

-Still has the same six teeth, but two of his molars are halfway in and his last two incisors are bulging and will probably appear soon.

There is really too much to mention so I will just move on to pictures of Noah's half-birthday celebratory ice cream outing
