Summer Begins

The day after Noah's last day of school, I took him to his first Cubs game downtown with two of my friends/coworkers. It was a super hot, beautiful, perfect day and a great way to kick off Noah's first official summer vacation.

Prior to the game, we had lunch at a pub. They didn't have a kid's menu, but they were able to whip up a grilled cheese for Noah.

We slathered plenty of sunscreen on for the game. It was near 90 with no clouds. Our bleacher seats were burning our bottoms when we arrived, but we quickly acclimated. Noah tried to pay attention to the game, but got restless by the bottom of the 1st inning, so we made a few rounds around the stadium. We found the water sprayer, said hello to a relief pitcher, ate some french fries with lots of ketchup, got an official first Cubs game certificate (don't worry, we're still Sox fans), and met up with Aunt Ashley who was also at the game that day.

After the Cubs won, we stopped by the fire station nearby.

While we were there, the fire department got a call and they had to dash off. I was pretty impressed how well they maneuvered around all the baseball fans milling about.

On our way to have some delicious pizza dinner, Noah stopped to get a quick drink from this hose in the ground. It was a fantastic day and boy were we wiped by the time we got home.
