St. Augustine - Day 2

The next day we drove outside the city to visit Fort Matanzas (aka Fort Massacre). The fort is on an island comfortingly named Rattlesnake Island, so we had to take a ferry across.

Noah climbed all the way to the top before I even got inside

 This was a much smaller fort, with just a few rooms for soldiers' quarters

Headed back to the mainland

We stopped for lunch at a place called Redfrog and McToad's Grub and Pub. They had a bit of a thing for frogs.

After lunch we decided to hit up the beach. This was Charlotte's first trip to a beach. The sand was so clean and pristine, very warm, and packed pretty tight so she had no trouble toddling around.

 Can you see them? The boys took off after a flock of seagulls.

Charlotte seemed to have no fear and kept walking out into the ocean. Noah was very brave too and waded out a good distance. Wyatt hung back on the beach and collected seashells.

One thing the kids loved about our hotel in St. Augustine was the free cookies in the lobby that were available 24 hours a day. Almost makes up for the fire alarm going off in the middle of the night and being offered no guidance or explanation as to why.
